The Houston Business Journal celebrated the 18th annual Best Places to Work awards at a sold-out luncheon Oct. 24 at the Hilton Americas-Houston.
The award recognizes companies in the Houston area with the most satisfied employees, and the honorees’ rankings were revealed at the event.
Combined, there are more than 100 companies in this year’s Best Places to Work, and they’re divided into four categories based on the number of employees. Companies are ranked within each category based on a score compiled from employee surveys.
Our Best Places to Work Lists are compiled by our partner, Quantum Workplace, which sent a survey to employees of nominated companies. Quantum then compiled scores based on corporate culture, amenities, benefits, and worker retention and attraction strategies.
The average score of companies on this year’s Lists is 86.9 out of 100, down from 92.8 last year. However, Houston companies’ engagement profile improved this year, with 69.7 percent of respondents classified as highly engaged, up from 64.1 percent last year. Disengaged employees also fell from 25.1 percent last year to 21.8 percent this year.
This year, 12 companies reported 100 percent retention rates for 2017:
- AEGIS Energy Risk LLC
- BEC Engineers and Consultants LLC
- Cypressbrook Co.
- Energy Ogre
- Eventellect
- Garcia Hamilton & Associates
